Michel Linssen (Den Haag, 1960) began, after his tenure of press photographer, during the mid eighties as pop photographer for magazines as the Muziekkrant, Oor, Popfoto/Muziekexpress and the Hitkrant. He worked more then fifteen years for the Telegraaf, photgraphing hundreds of concerts en for the Dutch Playboy he was responsible for the section “De wereld volgens…”. His photo’s appeared on the sleeve of Jan Douwe Kroeske’s “2 Meter sessiesies” and for the cultgroup Hallo Venray from Den Hague he shot all their sleeves, one of them the famous sleeve with the four belly buttons.
During a 2 Meter radiosession in 1992, Linssen photgraphed Curt Cobain. It were these photo’s that gained world wide acknowledgment and where published in international magazines for many years.
Michel Linssen lives and works in Rotterdam and will celebrate this year qat October 14 his 50th birthday. His birthday will be celebrated in galery V!P’s at friday October 15 together with the opening of his exhition FIFTY the same night.
In this exhibition fifty black and white photo’s will be showed which are shot between 1990 and 2000. Linssen shot during this period Madonna, the Red Hot Chilipeppers, Johnny Cash, Herman Brood, Bruce Springsteen, Kurt Cobain, Anouk and Johnny Rotten.
